Spay and Neuter Procedures

Dr. Dave recommends spaying and neutering your kittens after their vaccines are up to date, (this is generally at five to six months old). For dogs, there are different recommendations based on breed and size, Dr. Dave will discuss that with you during your visit.

Benefits of Spaying or Neutering Your Animal:

  • Removes Heat Cycles, Which Eliminates Related Bleeding, Nervous Behavior, and Whimpering
  • May Reduce The Risk Of Some Cancers
  • May Decrease Male Aggressive Behavior

What Does it Mean to Spay or Neuter?

Spaying is the process of removing a female animal's ovaries and uterus. This procedure eliminates the dog's heat cycle and prevents ovarian and uterine cancer.

Neutering is the process of removing a male animal's testes. This procedure may reduce aggressive behavior and prevents testicular cancer. Studies show that spayed and neutered pets live 18 to 23 percent longer than those who are not.

Dr. Dave has been performing spays and neuters for almost 40 years.
